The Association for Croatian Studies is an affiliate organization of the Association for Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies (ASEEES).  It was founded in 1977 as a non-profit scholarly organization. As defined in its Constitution, its principal purpose is “to foster closer communication among scholars interested in Croatian studies” and to “promote dissemination of scholarly information on Croatia and Croatians through organization of meetings, conferences, and panels at conventions devoted to Slavic and East European Studies.” To that end, the ACS regularly organizes panels that focus on Croatian topics at the ASEEES annual convention, facilitates contacts and cooperation among scholars living in Croatia and abroad, promotes research and publishing on subjects dealing with Croatian culture and society, and functions as a liaison between its members and other affiliates of the ASEEES in order to encourage comparative studies. Among its principal missions is support of scholarly activities and cooperation among its members, especially younger scholars. The Association often serves as a resource hub where various scholars and institutions turn for assistance and information concerning Croatian subjects. Its membership is open to all with these interests. For more on joining the ACS click on Membership.
